Howdy folks. Still working on sawing up some Firefly Jasper from Hornitos, CA. Most I have is too large for my little 10" saw but I managed to get a few slabs off this hunk of rough before it finally got too big and stopped the saw. I may try again after I sharpen the blade again as this is a pretty piece. Anyway, here are a few pics. Thanks for looking......Mel Closer look: Closer still: A few more slabs off the same hunk:

*LOL* Heck fire you yahoo's! This is freaking Texas. Momma Hixson didn't raise no foolish child. My cabbing shop ain't air conditioned (The conditioner was killed by a hail storm) and it's about 10 degrees hotter than Hades out there in the summer. Scorpions only wander the shop at night because they'd die of heat exhaustion trying to walk across the shop floor. Can't even see the wheels for the sweat running down into my glasses. In the warm weather I saw because I can sit on my deck in the shade with a tall cool drink, read a book, and listen to the saw run. I cab only in the cooler months cause the shop does have a heater *L*. So I reckon that means I cut my last cab early last spring and I may start again about October. Besides, cabbing is slow, boring as heck, and I love cutting open rocks to see what's inside almost as much as hunting rocks....Mel

mel i love your description of why you don't cab......... lmao Its 107 here today and ralph is cabbing... But we do have the swamp cooler running in the shop to keep him cool. Its bad enough i keep him tied to machine. i don't want him to keel over and die from the heat..... lmao

Mel, that stuff has some sweet spots in there for colorful cabs. Actually, with Ralph it's like this - when he is tempted to quit because of the heat, Marry Ann just gives him a COLD stare and he goes right back at it! lol Karock
