I know`a lot of forum members have C-40 band saws. Mine has been "tweaked" for a long time (top leaning so pulleys didn't line up). I took it in to Gryphon today and was told I should at least remove blade when not in use and even better remove top assy. also. My problem is I store my unit (used for demonstrating at shows) either in my van or my shipping container. Both get extremely hot. If you live in more reasonable areas it may not be an issue but removing blade is easy insurance. Thought I would pass it on.

It is only a problem stored in really hot places. I can't pick up anything metal in my shipping container in the summer. My cargo van gets pretty hot too. The tension of the blade pulls down on the upper housing pulling it over when overheated. Because I use it to demonstrate at shows they replaced the top assy for free and went through it completely.

I love mine. Don't know how I ever got along without one. Like a cell phone. I use it more than I do the trim saw. Ken
