Just finished these two amethyst cabs out on the picnic table. They were some scrap that I found in the bottom of a crate at a roadside place that was selling amethyst cathedrals. Mucho thanks for Bobby for slicing them for me. This one has a little red in it. This one has a little smoky. Backlit Thanks for checking them out! Jo

Hi Jo. There's something about that 2nd one. Kind of mysterious. Nice work. -Chris.

How fun that must be cabbing out on the road! I really like the first with the red inclusions. Nice job Jo!

I just love those amethsyts! Every time I try to cab some, I get so much undercutting it just drives me crazy! I guess I have to gain some patients before I can cab it. Great job Jo! Fran

Fran, boy do I hear ya. The first one undercut. I wasn't sure it was gonna pull through. After multiple applications of a thin coat of superglue (dry stone, apply, let dry, grind), and spending extra time on the higher wheels, luckily it pulled through.
Thanks you guys. Beef, yeah, it is fun, but gets old having to pack everything away all the time. Makes me dream of a shop where I can be messy and leave stuff out that waits for me to get back.

Geez Jo, I do that with my equipment at home LOL. Having to dig it out and set up, then tear it all down... But it's worth it. Your cabs are superb.

Cool cabs from cool Jo! That backlit is very nice. Nice photo. I keep thinking moon light, and then to moonstone, then to amethyst inlayed in moonstone. There you go... you need to be doing some picnic table inlay....don't want you getting idle hands, lol. T

I'd think a dremel tool would do it...with the flex connector so you can work it under water. I'll let you know as I'm about to embark on that project finally. I've had the flex connector for several years now but still haven't gotten to it, lol. Too many interests, not enough hands....but I'm really wanting to inlay some opal chips. T
