I'm happiest cutting cabs, but I want to make them into simple pendants so I can sell them to wearers, not just jewelers.
I bought glue-on bails for now. Eventually, I want to groove the cabs & put a wire in the groove. I read Adrian's excellent tutorial on the process.
For men, I bought some 1.5 - 2mm round dark brown leather cord. I'd like to know if a magnetic clasp is more what men go for or if a lobster clasp is OK, or if you have a better method. I also need to terminate the cord into some sort of crimp, or coil or something. If anyone has examples of their solutions, I'd love to see pictures.
Women probably won't want round leather cord. There are so many chain choices, I don't know where to start. Any favorites?

If you are looking for an inexpensive necklace to hang your cabs on so the wearer can wear it home, maybe a piece of ribbon for the women with a clasp on it. I find that lobster claws are very secure but hard to manipulate. Magnetic clasps are easiest but make sure you get a large enough magnet for the weight of the cab. If the magnet is too weak, the clasp will come undone under the weight.
Women like round leather cord for casual outfits. a round satin cord is better and more versatile. But I can't find any.
You can buy simple chains at Walmart for around 3 dollars, clasp included. Not real silver, but they look nice to wear it home. My favorite all purpose clasp is a screw on barrel clasp. Easy to manipulate and inexpensive and can take the weight of a cabachon.
Any kind of clasp will need to be attached with a jump ring and some kind of crimp.
I hope this helps.

I sell lots of pendants w/out any way to wear it. When I get asked about chains I reply most women have 1 or 2 extra and they always say oh yeah I do. There are too many choices for me to think about carrying any of them.

Thanks Randy. I needed that too. I went to that site. I am going to order some. At their prices I can afford to give away a free chain with a wire wrap.

All of Tony's necklaces we put on magnets and leather cord, I like the satin or velvet cord, but i have one good silver omega chain that I slide all my cabs on. You cant go wrong with black or tan satin cord for women.

Randy, thanks for listing that web site for reasonable chains. I have ordered some to use with Chris's pendants.

Randy,
Your link took me to a page based on your order, but it was gobbledegook to me. Could you provide a link to the particular chain you're referring to?
