I'm looking to buy materials for a project, and I think they will be difficult to track down. I'm looking for slabs of bright yellow, orange, red and a medium green - think crayola colors. They will be used in an intarsia cab and I'd much prefer opaque to translucent. I think yellow and orange will be fairly difficult, but the piece (or area in the slab) doesn't need to be all that large as the colors will be in 1/4 inch wide bands and probably about an inch long - but of course will need to allow for sawing and grinding. Green and red should be much easier - jade for green, jasper for red?
Couple other things to keep in mind. Yellow and orange bands will be adjacent to each other, so they need to be very distinct from each other. Would be good if hardness was in the 5-7 area as much of the other material will be. Also looking for very even color - no large inclusions or prominent patterns, just the color please. ;D
If you have something you're willing to part with, please send me a pic and price - or direct me to a good source.
And no, I'm not making this myself. Dan (HPD) will be cobbling this mess together for me. Thanks for the help...

Toad: Solid sections of yellow , orange and red are often found in good pieces of Mookite or in lots of jaspers. For green, jade or green jasper would probably be the easiest as many green stones like Chrysoprase or mtorolite are expensive

i will take some pics of what i have..... do they have to be a solid color? mary ann The slab itself doesn't need to be a solid color - though that would be good. Just need a solid area of color at 3/8 inch wide and probably closer to 2 inches long. Standard slab thickness - 1/4 inch? Thanks for looking.

I have a slab or orange calcite (it's more yellow than anything), a small slab of Stone Canyon and a chunk of red jasper (it's bright red). PM me your addy and I'll pack'm up! Gotta mention- calcite is soft but cabs beautifully, although it is very important not to let it get hot while buffing.

I just craked this one. This material is soft and takes a great shine.

I will slab it. It's an unusual jasper. It is a dolomite that formed with quarts. It actually comes out of the ground with a bit of a shine to it. I would say it would be 5.5ish. It cuts quick. I am thinking of cutting the red off legnthwise(about 3") so the rest would fit in my 16" saw.

Is that material more orange or yellow. Looks yellow to me, but sometimes can be decieving. Randy is sending me some yellow, so now I'm looking for something more orange...

It's definately not to the orange side. The picture is very close to actual color.

I'll let you know as soon as I see what Randy sent. Looks like some nice solid yellow areas in there. Thanks for chiming in.

Thanks for the pic, Dewayne. Don't think it will work for me though. Was looking for something more straight orange, without the other colors.
