Today is my 3-year anniversary of not drinking alcohol. I traded cases of beer for cases of rocks. Beats pissing it away ;D

Snuffy, congrats on that indeed. I know what it means. I have 25yrs free from everything. Cigarettes two years. That sucks though. In time I won't miss them either. Good for you!

Snuffy... When we were very young everyone asks..."what do you want to do when you grow up...?"
The better question is "who do you want to be when you grow up...?" Look at what you have become in light of who you really are...often times these are miles apart...
You are well on your way...congrats...

WTG snuffy. I've been off cigs for 31 years. Basically off alcohol this year compared to previous years. I had a thirty pack of beer I bought in July...finished it last month. Used to do that in a weekend. No hard liquor this year...could easily do a liter to a liter and a half of bourbon over the weekend...sometimes along with the beer. I'm buying a lot more rocks than ever with the money I'm saving...at least the rock addiction doesn't harm the body (as much as ) the booze. I lost 25 lbs this past year. Lee

Quit smoking for good on Memorial Day this year, dipping shortly thereafter. The beer not so much, but I have 2 years until I turn 40. I tell myself I will have better things to do by that time. So beer will probably just be a novelty by then, but I never had a hardcore drinking addiction, not that that is what is needed to have a problem. I Never "told myself" I would ever quit smoking before, then on Memorial Day I just did! Don't miss it.
Congrats Snuffy, you are right, all of that money on vices can go to so much more better things in life.

Right snuff! Tough gig! So ya done good!
I quit drinking 20 years ago for love & family. Then love and family left me out in the cold. So I could have succumbed back to drinking, but that would have just left me numb-er. So its been 15 years of alone and sober. Sobriety can be kind of tough tho. Thankfully the rock grinding hobby saved me and I’m going down a good road.

I have been without alcohol for about, 10 hours! I can't seem to give up my Guinness beer. I have to admit, I like those Jager bombs too. Had me a few Irish car bombs also, which are 3/4 pint Guinness dark, 1/2 shot Bailey's® Irish cream, 1/2 shot Jameson® Irish whiskey They taste like chocolate milk! May I be so bold to call you guys "quitters"? I did actually give up smoking pot maybe 6 years ago though...
