Even with a fracture, that is still a very pretty piece of material. Looks like you got a very good finsh on it.

Christopher, until you pointed out the fracture, it was not noticed. I think it is absolutely beautiful made better by being self collected! Great job! Fran

Yeah, I hadn't noticed the fracture either. Very pretty cab. Kind of reminds me of some of the Valley Springs stuff.....Mel

Thank you everyone. This material is nice to cut and it takes a killer polish with very little effort.
Yes Randy, this is a local material. Actually about an hour and a half away but we go there all the time because of family.
I have been cutting all day and so far I have found a lot of fractures. I still have about 120 pounds to go through and if I can't find any good in this batch I will just go back and dig deeper!!!

Yeah it will!! This batch will be my learning batch. I will figure out what to look for when I go get the mother lode!! ;D. This material is so fun to work, cuts easy because it is opal and takes a glassy polish with little effort. Here is a cab I cut after searching through some of the material to find the good..... ![](http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp59/christopherlesso/LAPIDARY/111_1043.jpg) ![](http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp59/christopherlesso/LAPIDARY/111_1067.jpg) ![](http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp59/christopherlesso/LAPIDARY/111_1060.jpg) Now I just need to cut up some of the green to find what is good there and then maybe next week I will go get more only this time I will try and only bring home the best quality opal

Yes, I found some yellow and green both with and without dendrites there was also a bluish/purple and a tan. I also found some red but only a little. Once the weather clears up I am going to go back out there and do some deeper digging and take some samples from a few different areas that I didn't have time to get to.

Wow, that's cool. I figured it was only white with possible inclusions. Be sure to show off the rest!
Thanks! Nate
