-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is a fossil show & sale scheduled at the Schiele Museum in Gastonia for Feb. 5 & 6,2011!! Our new club the Foothillsl Gem & Treasure Hunters will be displaying rocks as well as a few fossils. There is a small admission charged, but the mineral displays alone are worth the cost. I have gotten great bargains at t his show in the past. Link for further info: www.schielemuseum.org/index.php

I displayed part of my fossil collection at this show for about three or four years in a row back in the 1980's. I don't display at shows any more, but since it is only about two hours away, I may have to check it out again this year.

I plan to be ther most of the day on Sunday, and it should be a good show. I have never displayed there before, hope it will be good this time for us. We are HAPPY to have members from just about anywhere, as long as they are interested in the hobbies/obsessions that we are concerned with!! Rocks, minerals, gemstones, fossils, metal detecting, and other forms of treasure hunting like gold panning. We are just out to have a lot of fun and NO DADBURN POLITICS! We are trying to set up a field trip for every month except July, August and September-It is just too hot! We are growing and a fun group.

I have a brand new Ace 250 used once, and haven't had any free time to use it since. I'm itching to get to learn it, but really the only guide I have are videos off of youtube. Soon as this weather passes I'm going to pull it out of it's bag, drop in some new batteries, and give it a go. I just don't really know where to start hunting, just like my rock therapy, don't know where to hunt rocks either.
