I showed the pics to Garret Romaine and he says he thinks it's a cone. Woohoo!

I beg to differ(sorry)............It looks like agatized and (or) opalized quartz..............I have a few I found in Idaho and Montana. Your fossil pinecones do look like pinecones from the present,just mineralized......
