Been picnic table cabbing again just outside of Tucson watching the cowboys and animules on the ranch out back. Worked some of the material from Quartzsite. Hope I did them justice. Here are cabs from slabs that I bought from Stonesthatrock and Idaho Rock Shop. Autumn Jasper Hawk's Eye Texas Gold Plume Agate? It's on the tip of my tongue but I can remember-- ite From our RTH Brenda Rockhounding Trip Christopher1234 rockhounded these on his way to Quartzsite and shared. Dendritic Opal and Rainbow Ledge Jasper (Thank you Christopher!) Some Varigated Jasper I found at Rockhound State Park in NM on our way to Quartzsite. Finally, I did another kind of rockhounding while at Quartzsite. The kind where in all the melee, stuff got dropped on the ground and me walking around with my nose to the ground finds various stuff. Most were broken slab pieces or small chips. Me, I love a challenge so I tried to make something out of them. No clue on the names of these. Bill did this one Awesome Poppy (bird's eye rhyolite) (thanks Adrian) Sweet Green Moss, front and backlit And a Montana that I found back in the dump. Thanks fer lookin'! Jo

Todd, it works up real easy, like Picaso Jasper, and shines real nice. Can't see the shine in the pic 'cause I was running out of daylight.
After working it, I'm wondering how much more of it they have too...

That autumn Jasper looks like that Mexican jasper I bought from Sonoran Lapidary, just behind the Royal Sahara Jasper on the west edge of Desert Gardens. Is that where you got it?
It was weird, I bought a slab on Fri the 7th, but there was no more for sale by the next day. Perhaps someone bought all they had for sale.
I haven't cabbed it yet, but the slab is so beautiful, I can't wait.

What a cool way to cab, in the nature! And cabbing stones from friends - even cooler!
The Autumn jasper, the Hawk's eye, the "awesome poppy" (which I think it's bird's eye rhyolite) and the Montana are my favorites.

Thanks Adrian, I should have known. I added the name to the pic. Thanks everyone. Yes, it is quite nice working in the sun and air. Can't exactly call it fresh air, as the wind sometimes comes from the pasture, but, being a farm girl once, I like it. ;D Lynn, Didn't see it at that booth, but I bought the slab from Stonesthatrock and you can buy finished cabs at www.cabochon.ws . Anyone who is interested can pm Mary Ann on here and bombard her with questions about it. I only got one slab, but if I recall, they had more slabs at the show. Maybe she was the one who bought that other vendor out, if so, she was a smartie! Roy, I did these over three days. The middle day, we visited Casa Grande so only worked half a day. It is very relaxing, but I hate to go to sleep without them finished, then I get too anxious to sleep during the night 'cause I wanna get out and get them finished! LOL. Also, you'd be surprised how much attention it brings. All your ears must be burning, because I inevitably have to explain about the hobby and this forum. Directed someone here just yesterday. Greg, seriously, must you ask? Northeasterners... geeeeezzzzz.... Angie says hi to everyone. See her under the picnic table?
