Steve:
Seeing what you have here, I can only assume that you are now less one arm, and one leg.
The Priday egg bed is now part of Richardson's Ranch, so is actually open to digging. Most of the eggs do not have such spectacular contents as these slabs. Even in the sixties, you had to open a great many Priday eggs to find material like this. Woody

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. I'm a sucker for a nice red plume, but I'll happily salivate on a nice ANY plume!

Primo material. THis stuff is pretty old as like woody said you just don't see it like this anymore. I bought some radom Eggs a few years back and a couple were labeled Priday. I cut all but one open and only found one tiny little plumy area in one (and these were collected back in the early sixties according to the seller). I still got one that I'm saving for a special occasion (maybe this weekend??) Man if I get plumes HALF as good as that I'll be thrilled. COngrates. Too bad about your misiing arm and leg lol at woody!

Woody - Gotta correct you on one thing. Yes the Priday Plume bed is part of Johns ranch, however they only open it maybe a couple times a year if lucky, and they just started doing it again in the past 2 years or so. It's not something that's open on a daily basis such as the Pony Butte, Blue Bed, Red Bed ect... I dug the best last summer for a couple hours, but damn it was hot and hard! The plume eggs form in depression pockets and you have to be lucky enough to located these to find the best specimens. Otherwise the eggs are just a typical egg with clear banded agate and sometimes moss. There's the plume bed which is the newer one people dig "when open", but years ago there was the original plume bed called the Windmill Plume. I like it much better as it was a thinner, more detailed inclusion. This bed still have amazing pockets of plume, however it's solid bedrock and would take some blasting to ever get any take home. The flat bed on the ranch has also produced some outstanding plume! - In fact all the beds have produced plume, but they are few and far between. Heck Pony Butte has produced a few nice plumes over the past few years and just after it opened the bed produced some great precious opal filled eggs. I have a few pieces I found myself. A few years ago John and I spent the day with the back-hoe prospecting for a new plume player, but failed to find plume... however eggs were rolling off the bucket! Jason www.oregonthundereggs.com

Since moving to New Mexico, the thing I miss the most is digging for Thundereggs at the Richardson Ranch every summer.
