My first posting after introducing myself: I bought a slab and a cab named "spider man jasper". But now I am not sure, if these two stones are really jaspers. Can anybody tell me more about this stone? What are the red veins and what is the black? Attachments:

Spider man jasper is from the owyhees in oregon. It can be difficult to cab the red tends to crack along the web pattern. I have cut quite a bit of this material and your picture is a very nice slab. Spider Man jasper was mined and named by Jake Jacobitz. Hope this helps.

Very pretty material! Maybe it's just me, but I find it difficult to polish. Seems to me, to be a bit softer or more porous than jasper and appears to behave more like rhyolite. Your example looks to be a beautiful example of the type....Mel
