Angie and I went over to Desert Gardens yesterday (yes there still about a dozen vendors there) and we visited the Royal Sahara tent. I picked up three slabs. Where's the third slab? Took me about 4 hours to turn it into these. Unfortunately, the one on the top left developed a crack, so I guess I'll have to keep it for me. The one in the middle was scrap from the slab but I couldn't let it go to waste. Thanks for looking. Jo

Wow Jo, those are great cabs- shapes and shine I talked to him (can't remember his name or find his card right now) in Jan 2010 and he has got some Awesome material in that tent he had set up. Whole rocks of Sahara jasper that he polishes. Pricey, but beautiful stuff

What beauties, Jo! The slab in the right side is stunning. And the cabs you made are so beautiful.
Is this RSJ really coming from Sahara? I didn't notice this material here at rock fairs, at all.

gr, yes it is. However, right now, you can get a discount. He's packing up and leaving, going back home to Washington state.
Adrian, it's a fairly new find and is from the North African Sahara desert. Mary Ann can probably tell you more. I think she's bought some before.

I liked the slab on the left for the scene in the whole slab. Might face polish it and display it. The cab on the bottom left is two sided; I couldn't decide which side I liked best, LOL.

George and Janet have a 20 square mile claim in the Sahara desert where they go dig this stuff up out of the sand. They have to window every piece to see if it is any good or if it is junk as the outside looks the same on all the stones. They go over every other year and spend a couple of months there then ship the stuff home to Washington in cargo containers via ocean cargo. Anyways that is is my understanding from talking with him. They are really nice people. (I did make it home with almost a 5 gal bucket of RSJ through some trading)
They also bought the last of the Cacoxynite in Amythest that was left over from before the mine in South America flooded, if I remember correctly it was forty or so 55 gal drums.

Very/nice material. Wonder how long this claim is going to hold out.

Jack, yes it sure does. Will be hard to differentiate the two.
Tony, thanks for popping in, I should've known you knew them too (doh!). He really is a nice guy, like you said. Told me the story of the wood with all the crystal pockets that the farmer used to make a ramp for his cows and was buried in cow dung, LOL.

Hey Jack, If you saw the outside you would know it is not Biggs. These come in smaller nodules, look like river tumbled stones actually. Not like the big chunks Biggs comes in.
Jo, I forgot to mention, nice cabs!
