Just cleaned up some Tahoma jasp-agates. Lots of pattern and color: First batch: Second batch: Third batch: It'll be a couple more months before we can get in there again, so I'm just cleaning up stuff from last season. Thanks for looking. Garry

Interesting patterns and contrasting colors will make fine stones.

Thanks for all your comments. I had the flash on for these photos which made the light-colored areas look lighter than in real life. We hardly ever get any sun around here, so I just used a flash.
Gary - Most of these are 1 pound and under in weight. One or two are between 1 and 2 pounds.

Tahoma? Where does this stuff come from? Is it actually found near Tahoma, or is it just a name? If I can find this in my area I will never stop hunting for it. It's beautiful!

I'm lucky enough to have a piece of this fabulous rock that was given to me by Woody in my Christmas exchange box a few years back. It really is amazing material. I almost forgot I had it until I saw your thread Garry. If these pieces are sized similar to the one I have, I'm guessing it's seam material, and it's about an inch thick.

Thanks again for your comments. Turkeyvulture - these come from a site near Mount Rainier (Tahoma). Nate - yes most of these pieces are seam material and are roughly an inch thick, like yours. Some of this material cabs best if you give it a "biscuit cut" to get orbs rather than the little plumes because you are actually seeing the tops of the plumes. I personally prefer the pieces that have the cross-banding, with the banding running 90 degrees from the direction of the seam like you can see in some of these batches. Garry

Very unique material, you made-out like a Highwayman hitting crown jeweled stagecoaches Tahoma looks like a a hodgepodge of Agates and Jaspers from different states. One being Burro Creek Pastelite, for it's Pinks, Whites & Blues; and the other being Paint rock Agate (the variant that Dig For Crystals has dig sites for in Hollytree, Alabama) wherein they have Egg White rinds. Except with your Tahoma's, it's as if those white-rinds have become (a reverse opposite) and made do as Thunderegg like cores. Lastly I would have to say the shape of the Tahoma's is very close to the Flame/Seam Agate that comes out of Nova Scotia: Lobster Hole stuff. What is the average price for say "a fine example of this rough?"

ibexian, Thanks for the compliment on the Tahomas. I agree that this is a very unique and not a well-known material. I used to sell this material on eBay, but it was too much like a job. The lowest I've ever sold this material for is $6/lb and the highest was $54/lb (obviously the result of an eBay "bidding war"). My claim partner (Chasfire) sells mine-run material for $6/lb via his website (http://www.gametrails.com). PM me if you are interested in purchasing some material from me. There is a vast difference in material grade from this site, so if you are looking for "a fine example", it's going to cost more than $6/lb. Garry

I too got a piece from one of the traveling rock boxes. Here is a cab I made from that piece. Can maybe get 1 or 2 more small ones. It is one of my favorite cabs. Didn't think I'd ever see any more of it! I actually used to live up in that area, but that was a long time ago. I do have a sister who lives in Mossyrock, Wa.

That stuff is awesome!!!!!!! Where can a guy buy some of that agate! Fossilman, Thanks for your comment. My claim partner (Chasfire) sells mine-run material for $6/lb via his website (http://www.gametrails.com). I still sell some on a case basis. PM me if you are interested in purchasing some material from me, or just go to Chasfire's website - You can beat eBay prices there, if he has any left.
