Hey guys, We had these two pieces of petrified wood that were just about the same size and shape. So, we tumbled one of them and kept the other one rough. I like the look of little pieces of rough petrified wood, so I decided to make a his and her's pendant set. His... I made this wrap somewhat simple and straight forward like the stone, but I did the weave on the bail so it would match the polished piece a little better... It is wrapped in 16, 24 and 26 gauge copper with 20 gauge dark blue ( I thought it was black... oh well, it still looks good ) copper ...And Her's. I made this one a bit more detailed and delacate looking than the rough piece. A little more polished. It is wrapped in 20, 24, 26, & 32 gauge copper with 20 gauge dark blue colored copper. Yeah, that right 32 gauge ... You can ( barely ) see how I tied the coil into the weave in this pic. This was an experiment, it worked out pretty well. Well, how did I do on these two? Do they look like they go together? Chris

I like how they match, but I'm on the fence about if a guy would wear a weave. Your work is amazing Chris. I also want to add your photography is fantastic too. That last pic is a perfect example in the study of depth of field.

Freaking Incredible, Chris! If I ever tried something like that, it would probably wind up looking like a plate of spaghetti!

I'm still suprised how good my pics come out. Just a cheap old camera on a cheap little tri-pod, couple slabs, and sticky poster putty stuff sitting on some leather scraps ( thank you Judy ;D ) on the kitchen floor. Freaking Incredible, Chris! If I ever tried something like that, it would probably wind up looking like a plate of spaghetti! Lol... heck, at one point the polished one did look like a plate of spaghetti. At one point I had like 20 wire ends just sticking out!! It can be a real pain keeping everything from getting tangled up. Thanks, Chris

Oh, I forgot to post a pic of the back.... The rough pendant is almost reversable. The polished pendant got a little crowded and sloppy so, the back is the back.

Nice work as always Chris. I have a question for you. On the "his" pendant I notice on the bail that the outside wire has two wraps before you go across on the weave but the inside wire only wraps once and then goes back. Why did you do it like this? I do not do any weaving yet so I am studying to learn how. Thanks

They look wonderful Chris! Are you going to sell them as a set? If so how will you display them at the 2nd Street Market? Many people saw you working on the male one last weekend and will be thrilled to see the finished piece on the 23rd.

I do not do any weaving yet so I am studying to learn how. Thanks Actually, if you look at the her's pendant it is kind of the same. Only the second wrap is what holds the coil in place.... Anyways... Good question Chris. I did that because the outside wire is longer than the inside wire. So, too keep the weave tight I had to add extra wraps to take up the space of the longer wire. It took me a little while to figure that out.... You have to do the same thing if the weave curves too. The outside wire is longer. Here's a close pic of the machete wrap I did.... I'm in a hurry right now, so that might not make any sense... Chris Attachments:

I like the way you did a double-wind and then added a straight wire along it and spun around them both with another wire. Thats similar to one of the techs I used on my big 23-stone monster wrap... a&b the aqua, peridot, blue tourm... except I used a square wire, and had it on both sides of the double-wind, and used a thicker wire to spin around it all, doing a 1:3 ratio instead of a 1:1 around it all. p.s. nothing girly about woven metal. it's bigger, stronger, more skillful... all manly qualities. IMO, girly wraps are the ones with lots of delicate swirls.

I like both of them. But I think I like the male one better. Just because I like rough pieces of petrified wood also. On the tumbled one I can't tell it is pet wood anymore.
Love the weave on both of them. The addition of a piece of colored wire is a nice touch.

Beautiful work as always Chris. To me, they have a tribal feeling to them. I love how you matched but differentiated the his to the hers. It's perfect.
