Hello, all! Recently some friends gave me a bucket of rocks they found in the garage of their new home when they moved in. I saw some pieces of obsidian sitting on top and accepted it gratefully without looking at what else was in the bucket. I finally dug into it, cleaned everything up, and was pretty happy with what I found...some very big moss agates and some cool petrified wood! And a piece of rainbow obsidian...yay! Not bad for a "mystery bucket."
There are some mysteries I would like to identify if possible. I am in need of a little money and thought I'd put these rocks up on Ebay but don't know how to describe them or what starting value to ask. Any help would be great! If you are more comfortable giving me value suggestions over private message, that's cool as well.
Rock #1 is dark olive green with this weird red agate-looking stuff in it. Any ideas? It doesn't look like ruby inside matrix to me...there is no uniformity to the red patches.
Rock #2 is this neat little guy...reminds me of a picture jasper but seems too rough and textured to be a jasper. Blue-gray on the outside and with this interesting inner pattern on the broken face.
Rock #3 I am pretty sure is petrified wood...maybe just some big jasper, though, that was never a tree. Any ideas where it might be from? Look like anything you've seen before?
Rock #4 No idea what to call this...your thoughts?
Rock #5 is one of the moss agates. Any idea where it might be from?
Rock #6 is the largest moss agate. So pretty! I think it may be Maury Mountain, but I'm not sure.
Thanks for any help you can give!!
