I just finished my first batch of tiger eye. It finally polished after one week in 500, one week in 1000, and then two weeks in polish. Many of the pieces have what looks like open wood grain. I'm wondering if this is unavoidable problem with the stone itself or whether I perhaps did not use enough plastic pellets. Note that some (maybe 1/3) of the pieces do not have this pitting. They appear to have a 'denser grain'. Have any of you dealt with this before? Attachments:

yes, the asbestos Fiber were shattered after they were agateized in the formation. our during formation, the strata bed moved and shattered the plates. during the flow of silica in solution through the layers of asbestos. sure their is more then JUST SILICA in the mineral formation of the plates!! I have cut a lot of the material and found that the dry flat looking material well be more porn to loose fibers. Dry flat material well have loose fibers. and tend to be fibrous asbestos the high gloss fibers seem to be more stable to work with. Some material i have from digs of the 40s - 50s. Funny thing is I hated English in school. Just closed out the year with a C in English. I always take time to go back through my post and check everything for errors before posting them. On the other forum I'm on, I'm constantly Moderating newbies and telling them to go into more detail and spell check their post before submitting it. I can't believe how lazy so many people are to not capitalize and punctuate their sentences! Also it crossed my mind that he typed that as a joke!

Colt, my mother was an English teacher. It took me a few years to get over it, but I did, and you can as well!
