guys I need your help. My lortone 33b is making a horrible screeching sound. Does anyone know whats happening? Do I need to oil the rollers or is a it a sign of something?Any help would be appreciated. I also have an older model which i purchased used and in a few outlets the motor will just hum but not turn the rod, on a different outlet it worked just fine.

Definitely wouldn't hurt to oil it and see if that helps. Make sure the belt is adjusted correctly and that there isn't any grit where there shouldn't be...

Check the white bushings where the rollers go through the frame. If they are worn through you will have metal to metal. The bearings are cheap and can be ordered from any Lortone dealer. They should be oiled at least at start of each batch. If you run it with worn through bearings you will be replacing the rollers as well.

The screeching sound is not good, metal to metal. Mine started that sound and thats what it was. When ordering bushings, get an extra set or two. They are cheap and nice to have on hand.

I'm worried about your motor. Why does it work in some outlets and not others. To me this says the motor has resistence somewhere and is drawing a much heavier load. THis not only spells doom for the motor, it could be a potentially dangerous situation with overheating. I'm a bit of an alarmest- but having worked fire restoration for 4 years- I saw a lot of bad things.

I would be willing to bet if you plug it in 6 times at same outlet it would start sometimes, sometimes not. It would be unlikely to have different voltage at different outlets. Check the bearings and shafts. If not worn clean and oil. Make sure the shafts turn easily by hand. Check belt is snug.
