It was Jan. 3rd, 2010 and the air was cool and the sun was bright when I rolled into Quartzsite. I was lost, I had never been here before and had no idea which way to turn. So, I parked and procedeed to drift. Came upon this fellow who had wire cages full every kind of rock you could possiablly imagine. So, I went in and looked around awhile and found this; my first ever purchased rock. Opalized wood. I think he said Nevada No longer a shelf sitter, It's in the saw as we speak I'll post the slab(s) this evening........gr These are the rest of the piece slabed

I can't wait to see what you do with the slab. That's a nice-looking rock

Here are the beginnings of it. I'm hoping that fracture will fade away quickly. There's still 3/4 of it left and I think the nice pieces are yet to be. more monyonna

Nice piece Gary, I love those slabs! I was just looking at a slab of wood similar to these in my collection tonight.

I started contouring a similar piece Thursday. I don't remember where in Nevada but have found lots of it in old estates over the years.

Very pretty! Looks like maybe Gabbs, Nevada stuff all right. Your piece actually looks pretty solid for the site. Most Gabbs you treat like Morgan Hill poppy Jasper, you drop the slab on a soft patch of dirt and pick up the solid pieces to cab.....Mel
