Does anyone recognize this? I picked it out of landscaping river rock in Minneapolis, MN. The pictures are the best I can do with a point and shoot camera. Side One: Side Two: Close up: The "top" is more husk like, but does show the same pattern in some areas. The bottom looks like the inside of a geode with little spheres in place of druzy. The spheres are the same diameter as the circles in the pattern you can see on the sides of the stone. If you can't tell from the pictures, the material is more or less translucent where it isn't too dense.

My guess would be an agatized coral of some type.

Here's another pic for a better sense of scale: Looking at it from all sides there is no grain or alignment of the little spheroids. It's looks like agatized tapioca pudding, but with smaller little beads.

I think you may have something. Oolitic agate looks and sounds right. here is another view where the (oolites?) are more exposed:

Yes, I think I will slice it and see what's inside. There are some very nice pumpkin orange colors showing on parts of the outside.
