I got this one as part of a swap from Snuffy. (Don't blame him for any abuse I inflicted on this piece ) It started life as a slab, and I seriously considered doing it as a cabochon but after I trimmed and roughed it a little, I realized that it had a badly positioned pit. Get rid of the pit and I get rid of the area with the nice tear-drop shaped yellow marking...so I decided that I would just tumble it up as a specimen even if it wasn't worth a lot of sweat equity as a cab. I pulled it and another guy that was starting to heat up after 24 hours in the polish. Soaked in vinegar. Hand/toothbrush washed it. It will make a nice specimen for the shadow box collection, even if the pit/center flat spot means that it won't become a fancy piece of jewelry. This is Mookite Jasper, correct? From Australia? The other stuff is still in the tumbler. Since it's a Harbor Freight Chicago Vibe, it's neck and neck whether the tumbler barrel gives out before they're polished. Pray for me, folks. You were probably wondering if I'd ever pull any stones out of the tumbler at all, working as I do at the speed of snail.

Yeah, OK, I looked at some Noreena cabs at Barlow Gems. Same thing I guess. This stuff must just be fracture-y, they had plenty of cabs for sale at pretty nice prices with fractures in them -- worse than mine, to be honest. Same choice, to save the picture, you have to put up with some healed fractures.

Healed fractures are good with me. Adds interest...

Noorena for sure. its the fractures that make it interesting- without them you would just have a plain piece of orangy jasper.
