Work plus this oppressive heat has pretty much put rocks on a back burner. This week the state champion Dixie League tournament is being held in fossil country. My wife and I took off a couple of days to see it. Our grandson hit one grand slam and his team is 2 and 1 as of right now. We won't get to see any more of it. We got to the river at daylight and quit around 9:30. The river is dry with just a few pools and has been that way for some time now. With hundreds of fossil hunters hunting this river, the pickins were slim. Top left is a mosasaur vertebrae, top middle is shark and fish teeth, top right is a pet poop, probably mosasaur, reptile for sure. Top middle is the largest fish bone I've found to date and a fish jawbone sliver above that. Bottom right and left are reptile bones with broken horse teeth in the middle. Close up of the sharks teeth Death Plate I don't know what kind of animal this is from, but I do know he died happy. Curt

Those are Squalicorax (Crow Shark) Mel. My daughter's boyfriend found a couple of real nice Cretodus teeth. A fairly rare find. Dang beginners luck. Curt

Those shark teeth and the death plate are really nice. What river were you hunting?

Brian The bone takes a great shine. Unfortunately it doesn't look nearly as nice as dino bone.
Carlos From a river in Texas. ;D I'll send you a PM.

Really great finds Curt! I have a couple of chunks like your 'death plate' that we find at the wife's relatives down in Kentucky on the river - lots of shell fossils and coral horns, but the pinkish color bedstone they are in won't polish up at all.
