Very sad news. I had a bad feeling the other day when Stoner mentioned Bear’s legacy.
John was a friend I never got to meet, generous to a fault, and his skill sure gave us something to shoot for. The finest cab cutter I know, bar none.

John, you will be missed. We had some good talks, waaay back then . I wish you peace, and indeed that final cab. You can do it. The mansion has many rooms, yours has been prepared. You will be missed. Now you know what we do not yet. Later, and good cabbing!

Very sad news indeed. He sure made an impression on me, his ability to see a section of a slab, frame it, cab it, and every time he would create a masterpiece. Like Rich said, the finest Lapidary, bar NONE. You will missed my friend, may you rest peacefully now.

All his great work can be left here for all to see. A sad loss. Mark.

Met John many, many years ago on this forum. Kept in touch through emails. This is sad news, indeed. RIP

Wow, I grew up in Cheyenne Wyo. Been to Grover a number of times. I wish I could have known Bear, as I get home every year. Ther are getting to be fewer "good" people left. The hounders are some of the best in my opinion. Later Clyde

I was only a member a few months when he made his last post here, but I remember reading it at the time and seeing in that thread how much everyone cared about him and how lifelong friendships are made here on RTH.
Just looked back through some of his posts and saw pics of him and his wife. My prayers for his family and hugs to his wife.
So.... Here's to Bear! He will be missed.

May he rest in peace. I echo Ed's remarks. John was an amazing lapidary with an uncanny ability to find the cab in any slab and bring it to life even better than you would have thought. I know I used to perk up immediately when I saw he had a post. And I never was disappointed. We are all lucky for having him here, sharing his talent and his encouragement to others.

My prayers go out to his family and friends and though I did not know him, I know him through the inspiration that he gave to others.
I also looked back at his posts and found the title to his last post on this board to be profound.
Rest in Peace John.
