Collected this in the early 50's, at Shark Tooth Hill in California. Partial whale ear bone with shark tooth on bed of broken whale bone. Whale ear bone is to the left of the tooth. Tooth is either from a tiger or lemon shark. Don

This was a forgotten find that was re discovered while digging through soggy cardboard boxes after a recent basement flood. Found a box half full of bones and teeth that I'd forgotten about. Most have never been cleaned after being collected. Don

Very cool Don. I've always wanted to find a bone with a shark tooth embedded.

Hey Curt, unfortunately the tooth isn't imbedded in the bone. It was in cemented sandstone that was around most of the specimen. I've been carefully removing the sandstone to expose the bones and tooth. The tooth popped loose from the sandstone, but that's nothing that a drop of super glue won't fix.

Cool stuff. My best yet is a marine mammal knuckle bone. Only recognizable bone I've found other than "supposed vertebrae due to size". Ran into a guy at a hunt one time that had found vertebrae with points. Mine have all been water worn specimens.

Hey John, I'll take pics of the vertebrae I collected at the same site in the morning, and post them here. I have 4 loose ones, and a pair that are joined.

I'm guessing collecting inland would give you better specimens. Mine was mostly at Point Conception and other Central CA beaches. The big tumbler got to them before I did.
