Hope all of you stay safe. My hosting company is close to Boston and their fiber optic cable was severed so lots of websites are down. They hope to have it fixed by tomorrow.
Keep safe everyone....................Tony

Jo, you're scaring me.... glad you are leaving tomorrow, in the AM hopefully!
Been in a few earthquakes here in WA. The biggest was 10 or so years ago. I was in the basement painting my sons room trim in blue, when the quake started I slipped off the stepping stool, looked out the window that was ground level, the grass outside looked like it had a hundred bowling balls underneath the surface rolling. Patrick was on the roof at the Pacific Science Center and he had a few seconds warning because all of the seagulls took flight. It crumbled our chimney and caused a bit of uneven settling but all was well. Had baseball size hail break our car windows in Amarillo TX, but never been in a hurricane.... SCARY!

Well... we had too wait until our mail came in today and by then, Bill was too tired to drive, so... the final plan is to leave at 6 AM tomorrow morning (Thurs). We're headed west to Raleigh. We'll still get a little of the storm, but not as bad, I think. Then, when all has passed, we're headed back to PA to help out my son who is having some issues right now.
One of my father's fishing buddies who lives down here now is staying. I can't believe it. His family is here now and they cannot get him to leave. My heart goes out to everyone down here, but the locals are so stinkin' nonchalant about it.

I saw that you made it back to the mainland, yay! ....I'm gonna do some hurricane cabbing ;D Bill says you're gonna have to do your cabbing naked, 'cause your gonna get soaked! Dude, they just evacuated the Navy in Norfolk... I mean, all the ships... out to sea... to dodge Irene. Quick! Build a storm shelter, LOL. We made it to Raleigh, but are deciding whether we head further inland tomorrow (Fri). Latest is that Irene is headed a little more west than earlier predicted...

Jo, my daughter is heading to Greensboro. She said if that aint far enough west, she would go more westward. She said her neighbors and people around her area dont seem to be concerned,I said they had never encounterd one, power outages, tornadoes, floods, etc Better to be on the safe side.My son-in-law will be evacuating fighter jets to other states.Stay safe to you folks on the eastern seaboard. This storm will probably rank with the worst.Lools like it will lash the whole eastern seaboard instead of just really affecting the area of landfall as in most.

That's normal, even for tropical storms. It keeps them from beating up the pier (and getting beat up by the pier) and even breaking the mooring lines do to the high winds. No telling were they might end up!

That's kinda scary. Is it leaving us vulnerable?
Snuffy, we just went shopping and we found the same thing. No sense of urgency. There are 5 other RV's here at the Fairgrounds waiting out the storm. They are downgrading the winds and precipitation for here. Tell her that unless the storm turns west early, I think she should be okay.... but to keep watching.
