Just a month or so ago, the Republicans seemed poised to take over the Presidency with Mitt Romney running his Super safe campaign and minimizing negatives against him. He seems to be a middle of the road, reasonable, type of candidate on a majority of issues and a populist on others. Very much cut from the same type of cloth as Bill, Hillary, and Barack; appealing to the centrist types in the country (and considering that labeling himself Republican guarantees 40+ percent for any candidate, he seemed an odds on favorite to be our next President.
The woman Senator was hard to take serious...The Texan in the race had Bush style charm and charisma, but next to Mitt came off Sara Palinish as a serious candidate for the highest office in the country (He also made the supreme mistake of treating illegals like fellow human beings). Ron Paul has appeal to most people but forgets that negatives matter more than positives and pisses off way too many. I don't get Santorum as a serious candidate. Huntsman seams like a good man in many ways but cannot put together a serious bid, maybe next time. I'm sure there are others who I might be snubbing by not mentioning them here.
The Hermanater is proving to be a more serious candidate than we thought possible. He knows how to dumb things down to create mass appeal. He is keen on lowering taxes for the wealthy and raising them on everyone else and the people seem to love it.
I thought Mitt could waltz into office but he seems to have a rival who won't shoot himself in the foot like the others have. It should get a little bit interesting at the very least. Who knows, at the start of the last campaign the Dems anointed Hillary until Barack had his say in the matter. Maybe history repeats itself.
