This one is the reason I bought this slab in the first place and it’s the third cab from this slab.
In the late 80’s, I was fortunate to travel India. On one occasion, we traveled along the Northern reaches of the Ganges. One evening we were able to visit rituals involving absolution through immersions in the waters of the Ganges. It was early evening; the sun was down yet the sky on fire. This naturally colored the water red too. Looking down on the worshipers it was an absolute fascinating and solemn experience.
I had completely forgotten about all of it; up until I saw this slab. Everything memory/emotions came back at an instant and I knew I had to have this slab. I actually was on stand-by at the close of the auction at 3 something AM just to make sure that I did not get outbid.
To me this cab looks like; someone standing in the water close to the riverbank. It looks like an old scratched up canvas, hence I wanted to re-enforce that effect by giving it a simple frame and turn the picture into some sort of a medallion. Got into trouble with the lower left side as the black color was extremely irritating and drew me off balance. So, it’s an experiment that got a bit astray, yet somehow those irregularities seem to add to the “rustic” feel (at least that’s my excuse) LOL.
That cab is mine and by the time you see this post, I will be wearing it.
Here some shots to show you the full color range
The 3 cabs from the same slab
And finally cab 4 that will never happen. broke with just 4mm to go. Would have been completely cut out in a manner of minutes and then broke.
Never mind, got 3 wonderful creations out of it, so was well worth the effort.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Thanks for looking!
