Her are those 2 rocks you wanted to see cut. The first one I ground gripping points on for the saw vice and it was throwing sparks just like grinding metal - (even with water). here is the original the slab 2nd one - original the slab Any ideas what they might be? gary

Gary: They appear to be jasper mixed with hematite. The second one appears very similar to some of the hematite rich jaspers from the Cave creek area in AZ. Often those have other metallics in them too. The second example is almost a dead ringer for some of the stuff I used to find associated with the poppy jasper in the Stinky Horse Hole pit in Hunters Valley, CA too. Similar stuff comes from the Iron Ranges up by the Great Lakes too. When banded, these jasper/hematite mixes are often called by the common name jaspelite....Mel

Thanks! That is some kind of red! Guess it was the hematite that made the sparks fly, huh!? Nice colors in the first one, too!
