Great job on your first cab. Don't lose it. I tell people that I am teaching to cab to look closely at where the dome meets the bezel. You want a well-defined line that is nice and straight (for the majority of the cabs anyway). Your dome/bezel intersection looks good from the photos. I think you got a fantastic polish for your first cab too. Garry

i have to echo all the comments here. great cab. my first ones were horrid comparitively. put that sucker in a little plastic bag and see what it looks like after you do another 100 or so. and then 200....an on. you can not do only one.

Thanks again for the kind comments... I really feel like my first cab was a team cab. Everything I've learned has come from the people on the board. I still spend more time researching on this board than I do cabbing! Lol.

That is a great 1st cab. Heck that is a great anytime cab. Just a thought I think it would be great if everyone would post the ist cab that they did if they happen to have a picture of it. Maybe even a side by side with a cab they just did next to their 1st cab. Just a thought Stu

Great Idea Stu, lets get a post started this weekend.
If successful, I was thinking of another in regards to what are you wearing. So many artists here, yet what is your choice of design that you wear (your own creation naturally LOL)

That is a beautiful sodalite/swirlstone cab! Triangles are hard for me to do. I always get them uneven so you have really done wonderfully well! Looks like you are a natural!!! Fran

Well you picked a tough shape for your first cab, points are tricky, but you did a great job on it. Like you I had no one to learn from other than this board and I started out doing cabs with points too. After the first few I started doing more rounded shapes and that really helped me get a feel of where the grinding wheel is touching the stone. That's probably the single most important thing you can learn and experience is the best way to get there. I expect to see lots of good cabs from you in the future.

It took me a lot longer than I expected. I just got lost in it so I am guessing 60-90 minutes. Scott

Scott, that is beautiful work on that cab. There is no one around for quite a long way for me to learn anything lapidary related so this forum has been wonderful for me too. I have learned a lot about cutting, cabbing, wrapping & rocks too!
