Yeah, I had the idea it was to be tonight. I walked outside just past 6 am Mtn time and it was halfway eclipsed. The full eclipse was at 7:06. Best view from western states, as daylight by then in the east. It was really cool, moon turned red. Next full lunar eclipse will be Apr. 2014. Moon was low on the horizon.

Not only did you have a red moon in the USA. There where parts this morning where you could see the sun and the moon at the same time (something even rarer than the red moon). Nothing special as such, but the moon at the time was in full shadow! Now, you gotta research that. Takes too long to explain quickly here. LOL But well spend time to do so, because some of our rocks do have similar effects due to different reasons.

Cool pic Geoff. I was up early and wanted to watch it, but some clouds rolled in and blocked the view. I think the moon was below the horizon by the time this all started ayway.

Ohhh yes, that's a superb image. Timer, tripod and slow shutter-speed I presume? Mine are all wobbled up due to shivering hands. But I'm glad to see that the pinkish tone is not my cameras fault.

It was setting over Thunder Mountian this morning and woke us up! We're East Coast and technically didn't see the eclipse but it was still a pinkish red and very full. Shone right in our bedroom window about 5:45 am and was so bright we were both out looking on the porch by 6. Quite a sight and very beautiful...except I was really looking forward to sleeping in...
