Very nice wood. I sold a bunch of agatized wood for $1,00 a pound but it did not have the varied color like your piece. If it was mine I would go three ways. Slab part of it, cab the parts that break off or separated fractures and leave the rest in one piece to use in my art. But that is me. In China they would grind down the entire outside and polish it. Gorgeous when done that way. Sure would love to have that. I do not find that kind of color in any wood here. Beautiful. Jim

WOW! Gorgeous color! In thinking about what to do with it, my first thought would be to consider the price that I paid for it. I've seen something on ebay where people are putting little 3x5 slabs on little stands and selling them as artwork because of the pictures and designs you can see in them. This piece might be a good candidate for that! I would face the ends so I could really look at the design and see what the fracturing is like, if any and go from there. Check out "picture stone slabs" over there because I saw a couple of ocean picture slabs sell for quite a bit and was floored by the prices! In any event, gorgeous hunk of rock! Let us know what you do!

That's a fine looking piece of wood. It'd be hard to sell something so pretty.

Depends on what you want to do with it. Personally, I'd cut it up into thick slabs and bust it up for tumbling.

That is one heck of a nice hunk of petrified wood. I have a few pieces that are a little smaller than that one that I just have displayed as specimens, hate to cut them up. I like it when the pieces are cut and polished up at the end so you can see the colors but also maintain the integrity of the specimen.

Beautiful pet wood, I like the green color in it. It also looks BIG, compared to the eggs in the background.

thanks for the comments, still not sure what it will end up, I like the idea of polishing the ends, maybe cut a little off the top to make it flat and then polish that and use the pieces to cab, maybe leave it as is.. I am not sure I have only had it for 3 days so it has not talked to me yet

That is some beautiful wood, amazing colors. It would be tough to decide, you could get some crazy nice cabs if it is not too fractured. If it seems to have a lot of fractures, I would opt for polishing the top and sides, leaving the bark. Bill

Sage brush makes a real good pet wood stand. I just cut the end and one side and polished them and it sold so fast I figured that I priced it to low. Jim
