A few weeks ago I bragged on this forum that my Lortone 45C (as opposed to my 33B and QT12) had been running trouble free for over 10 years. Yesterday I had to replace the motor - should have kept quiet.

Where is the best place to buy replacement motors? I have the QT-66, a real old one that was given to me last summer. I feel like I pushing it a bit with the two barrels. I'm moving things along now with the Lortone 3 barrel 1.5lb and a Chicago Electric two 3lb barrel tumbler. I spend Saturday mornings sorting out the weeks booty.

If you can get a replacement motor from a local rock shop you can avoid shipping costs. Otherwise use The Rock Shed, therockshed.com/partslortone.htmlAlong with great service The Rock Shed is the only place I know that doesn't necessarily charge list or even above list price for parts. Sometimes with the QT66 you need to file out the adjustment holes - the mounting slots for the motor - a bit to pull up the slack on an older belt. I would try replacing the belt and adjusting the motor postition before replacing the motor. it's hard to explain, but it's important to get and keep the angle of the motor correct on the QT66 for good operation. Hi Clyde - I had a spare motor in my parts drawer. I got it to try to keep a Chicago Electric working. I decided that that the CE was too hard on my blood pressure and was not giving any pleasure so I tossed it. Steve
