Doubting this has a name, and don't know where it came from. Im guessing it's just a randomly cool looking conglomerate but figured I'd run it by you guys to see if anyone had seen it before. If it has a name, even cooler. Attachments:

I don't know what its called but I have some of the same stuff. The blue specks glow after polishing. Scott

Started as a 6# piece, just broke off about 4.5# of it and threw it in the tumbler... hoping it holds together, always wonder when I throw this type of rock in. Broke really nicely into cube-ish shapes with the pointy chisel... so I'm hoping for good results if it holds together.

That is good to know.
I had mine in with a bunch of agates and jasper and they came out very bright. Scott

A friend I had sent a pic to a few hours ago responded with "llanite" from Texas. Looks pretty similar to the opal in feldspar suggested above. The dark brown of the matrix looks a little closer on the llanite though

Looks pretty similar to weathered llanite to me too. The fresh broken stuff appears to me to be darker. The weathered stuff from the outside of the dike is paler like your example and there is a siilar material from Brazil.. The blue is quartz phenocrysts and the red is feldspar while I think the base is a rhyolite type material...Mel

Well, the nice square chunks rounded very nicely, already moved on to the 220 after barely more than a week in the 60/90. Just got a new qt66 and the 6lb barrels apparently grind pretty fast. The other barrel full of lace is making fast progress too

That's a pretty interesting piece, Chad. Would love to see photos as the tumbles progress! to me it looks slightly different than the Brazil and lanoite . Oddly i found a pebble here in Illinois a couple months ago that looks more the same , i see your in Indiana ;D i think it is in the tumbler now, or i ran it through first stage allready, i have been doing first stage batches , i will check. i also have a rough brazil piece i have been slabbing . Where did you get yours ?
