Most of the worlds services have special forces teams on par with team six. Most of which you would not want be on their take out list. This particular op was again a combined service one with the Air Force inserting the team, and I believe the Army extracting them by helicopter. Woody

Lots of Kudo's all around to all our armed forces as a team
and you would have to include a President who is not afraid of failure and will pull the string to authorize such daring and risky business

"And not only did he authorize it, but he planned it, supervised it, deployed with the team, and went shirtless into battle with a Glock in either hand and double-tapped every one of the pirates."

Oh yeah Charlie, I'm sure the Prez paused on his round of golf, his political fundraiser or campaign speech to really take a "hands on" part in the rescue. Give us a break *L*. ....Mel

Mel/Bill
On the contrary..The President lets those who are the professionals do the planning and execution of these missions. Unlike some egomaniacs, he understands what his job is and what their job is. The military plans and undertakes miltary missions with no interference from the politicians. What a relief it must be to have a competant chain of command for all involved. This President stays out of the limelight and takes no credit for what the military accomplishes.
Still, you must all admit, that you would be all over the President if this mission were a failure and some Americans died or were injured as a result. You would be blaming him for poor planning, poor execution, poor judgement, interference and a whole host of other things.
If the raid to bring Osama Bin Laden to justice had failed, you would have skinned him alive for allowing such a mission and risking American lives in the process or the harm it has done to our relationship with Pakistan.
Obama is definitely "Hands off"; let the proper people perform their missions without interference. he performs his job which is to assess the judgements of all those involved and all their conflicting judgements and opinions and decide whether their is a good enough chance of a successful outcome to risk the lives of US Soldiers and citizens and reputation of the United States of America.
He will eventually fail in something and I'm sure you will find much glee in that, but he is doing a pretty good job eliminating the perpetrators of 9/11 and their successors and those who kidnap American ships and volunteer workers around the globe
Hands on...of course not professional and competent...absolutely

Charlie, I was just jesting with you. I do commend you on your support of such actions. Barry does often come off as though he is quick to bask in the limelight...You do make a good point in that if the mission had failed he might be in for a "Carter" . I do suspect that if it had not been successful, the administration would have pointed a boney finger of indignation at some mid-level brass.
I also suspect that if this were 5 years ago, and Bush was at the helm, you may not be as generous with your accolades. In all fairness, I do commend Obama for doing his job. Then again, I'm sure he is well aware how would it look if it were to come out that he refused to sign off on a mission such as this.

Yeah, I'm very glad Obama is a hands off guy. The only time he's not screwing something up is when he's playing golf, kissing the arse of some union boss or schmoozing some Hollyweird jerk off.
Gee I thought the last administration kicked the crap out of a whole country. Think that was pretty darn successful. It's when we try and rebuild things we blow up that the government screws up. Think we should leave things all blown up and let folks repair their own countries. Lets use our money to fix our country instead. Whether we fix them back up or not, they still hate us so what the heck...Mel

Of course they still hate us. We usually go in for questionable declared reasons (yes, exceptions exist), break a few dozen international laws while blowing things up, and then contract out the "rebuild" to our own domestic/international corporations.
The people of (insert country here) are left just as poor, desperate, and no more self-directing as before when it's all said and done.

Hey poke the big dog with a stick, ya get the teeth. Tough luck if you're the dumbass with the stick. Why not have American corporations create jobs and make money to get payback for the costs of blowing the dummies up? Sounds OK to me *L*. Were the shoe on the other foot, you'd sure not see them helping us out afterward. They'd freaking rape and pillage and try to exterminate every one of us. You forgetting what the Iraqis did in Kuwait or to the Kurds? I find libs tend to have a very selective memory *L*..Mel

Nothing at all to do with my memory or any such thing. Never said or suggested anyone here or there was or wasn't a wonderful people. Personally, I don't see a lot of favors being done in any direction unless pretty purely in the name of self interest. Liberal, blind patriot, everyone sees what they want to, but it doesn't change the fact that our government and its killing force is pretty much as corrupt as the next. Some can just afford flashier suits and a whiter smile than others.
