Well, met a young man a couple weeks ago who is in the US Secret Service. He makes custom briar pipes as a hobby, and he just sent me one of the most sexy pipes I've ever held in my hands. Now, this isn't really about the pipe, it's about what's in the photo with the pipe. Friend of mine sent me a heavy chunk of natural brass after polishing a part of it. It weighs almost 3 pounds! I was shocked, because it's not that large - 3" x 2" at it's widest points. But it is really gorgeous, and I've never had anything quite like this in the past. Really, really like this piece very much! In the photo to the left of the pipe:

Man that is indeed one fine looking pipe. The brass is pretty cool too but natural brass, may be a misnomer as I believe brass is a copper- zinc alloy that has to be smelted for the two metals to be combined. Don't mean there can't be such a thing and I'm not a geologist but I've sure never seen such a thing except as slag from a smelting process. Whatever the origin, it sure makes a pretty specimen ...Mel

What ever it is, it weighs in at about 3 pounds and the polished section is gorgeous.
