Hi everyone,
I would like to get you opinions with respect to a purchase that I just made.
I just purchased this piece of bicolor Tourmaline with the thought of using it down the road. My thought was to maybe cut it into some cabs that can be used as pendants for a necklace. I have seen Tourmaline as a faceted stone and I have seen tourmaline used as beads. Is this material suitable for cabing?
In was really looking for a nice piece of Watermelon Tourmaline and this piece came upp in the search. However it isn't the pink and green as would be found in Watermelon Tourmaline.
I had no idea as far as what this material is selling for when I came across it and I didn't have adequate time to research it before the sale. So how do you think I did as far as price?
The piece measures 1.5"x1.0" and is 35.6 gr or about 178ct
The peice is free of any damages or chips and is clear and tranlucent.
I paid $69.00.
Lastly how would you all suggest that I ciut the stone. I would want to do so in such a way as to be able to capture the bicolor quality. In was thinking about cutting it in this manner. If I cut it down the length in 1/4" slices I would get maybe three 1.5"x1.0" preforms to cab.
Do you think that would be looking to get to much out of the stone?
Or do you think I should just polish it up and leave it in it's natural shape or perhaps just split it length wise down the middle and than have two pieces to work with?
I want to thank you all for any advice you may have for me
