Rejects? Oh you're just showing off!!! Nah, those came out nice. I too have a large collection of rejects where I keep telling myself that someday I'll run them through the tile saw to cut out the bad sections. I hate running the tile saw so it never gets done. It will be a good summer project when it's 110 outside and I need to get splashed down with the saw. I think the most interesting tumbled rocks I have are the reject ones. The shapes and colors are really wild. It's the perfect round ones that are not all that exciting.
I'm bummed. The motor burnt out on one of my QT6 Lortones. It's a old green one I bought off Ebay about 1 1/2 years ago and I use it for final polishing. Need to buy another motor and keep production going. I have way too many rocks to tumble.
Keep those reject pictures coming!

Paul, We made it to Field Siding too! We went about a half mile in, just past the mattress and the bullet riddled cans.

Another idea fer the stones. Our club puts em in plastic eggs and has a kiddo egg hunt at our rock show. Later Clyde

Hey, Gang: Thanks for the compliments. Bear in mind that the ones that didn't get a close up had cracks, vugs, or other imperfections ;D ... they were pretty bad. The ones that got photographed came out okay. I'm probably going to have to revisit how I'm packing them on the final two stages as well since some had impact fractures. I thought I put enough plastic media in there to keep them from banging around but I guess not. Thanks for the encouragement as well. This hobby can be pretty frustrating some days. Geoff - Thanks buddy! Sorry to hear about the weather but I guess I should stop complaining. SoCal dropped into the 40s last night, high's are predicted to be in the low 60s. Anything less than 73 and folks are dragging out parkas. LOL Larry - I may do that with some of the rocks queued up in the on-deck circle (cut them first). Sorry to hear about the Lortone, that's a bummer. Bill - My boys like the Field siding area as it's easy to get to. Since they're little I have to make sure that I'm not picking canyon areas or places where there's a difficult hike. Enjoyed your pics of your last trip! Helen - Thanks! Those three little pieces were interesting. Not sure where they came from. This was a total mixed bag of stuff. Which was fun, in and of itself. Clyde - Those plastice eggs work well. Since Easter's coming, maybe I'll alter the plan a bit and use those instead. Great idea. Thanks for checking out the thread Paul

Hey Paul, Seems as if I am a little bit late to the party but I must say I agree with the consensus of the others. These are the most un reject looking rejects I have seen. I can only imagine what your keeper pile looks like,LOL Stu

I'm hoping my successes come out as nicely as these 'rejects' -- they're all lovely! The Easter Egg idea is fantastic. That would be a lot of fun for the kids, I bet!

Thanks for the encouragement, gang. When I pulled these out of the final stage, I realized that I had a lot of impact fractures, in addition to, the existing cracks and such. I thought I had included enough plastic media to minimize the damage but obviously not. I have, at times, used sawdust in the last stage and might return to using that as well.
Typically, I've been using plastic media on the last three stages - I do a pre-polish, 1000 AO and then Polishing AO. Unfortunately, it appears that my packing or maybe amount of "buffer" materials may not be sufficient.
Any thoughts on that? I'd appreciate the recommendations and suggestions. I haven't yet found one "recipe" that seems to work for me so I'm always switching to see what happens.
Thanks Paul
