The Stein's Pillar site is one I have wanted to find for several years, but no one I have ever talked to knew exactly where it was. I have dug a small deposit on the north side of Mill Creek road very close to Stein's Pillar that also has a lot of waterline filled eggs, but not the variation of these.
Thank you for posting these..now, I want to find a few all the more. Woody

Great Post David!
Woody - These eggs are actually under private claim. A gal by the name of Debra Shaw owns the claim. She's the daughter of Casey Officer and she's actually the 3rd generation owner of the claim.
Your exactly right about not being able to find it. I understand they take a different way in each time they visit the claim, not to break a trail to follow. - In fact last year at Prineville Show the Forest Service called and met me at Prineville asking who owned it, as they cannot even locate the claim for the annual inspections LOL. I just smiled and said talk to Casey, but he will never tell.
The owners only sell cut and polished eggs one time a year, and never sell rough. So supply is limited. I am one of many dealers who wait in line for a couple hours waiting to grab the best as Casey loads the table. Never knew rock collecting was so ruthless haha!

But if they only sell polished specimens, how come I bagged an unpolished stone from Yurila on eBay? One of the best ones yet as well - can't wait to work on it.

Hi David, I purchashed approx 200 lbs of various thundereggs and found 5 Stein's pillar in this small pile. I was told that these rocks were dug in 60's, and previous owner did not remember locations for these thundereggs. It was pretty good mixture of Richardson, Succor Creek, Ochoco, etc. as well as unknown to me - thank you for ID help on some of them. I still have 1 or 2 uncut ones that are ponetially from Stein's Pillar , do not know yet. Yuri
