Poland’s most famous thunderegg – Nowy Kościół. A tricky location to collect until I was lucky enough to find these, which finally gave some hint of just what a magnificent location it can be! Colourful and phenomenally complex! To my eyes the above stone is almost on a par with the famous Baker thundereggs – maybe even more so since the colours are less in your face. Agate-filled cracks. 14cm across and one of the strangest specimens I have seen from here. A Polish pseudomorph thunderegg, spelt out rather delightfully in the classic Nowy Kościół hot and neat orange agate. The precision of this type of agate makes this one of the best pseudomorph thundereggs I have ever seen. Good enough to eat with a spoon! Ultra-thin layers of agate over crystals. So thin it is barely there at all. Banding of agate and crystal is nothing unusual but this one has repeated that precise sequence of quartz and extremely brief agate formation 4 times with almost clockwork precision (but slightly different colours) - ending with that fuzzy red agate in the centre.

Number 6 is great are they expensive ? Yes they are relatively. I squirm a bit when I remember how much I spent on those! Still - sometimes you have just got to do it! They start at about $10 for the small simple ones and go up to anything around $100-200 for the larger ones. There's still some of these on ebay at the moment as well as my unpolished batch.

Yes after seeing the size of grinders and polishers you use I can see why you have to charge what you do.
They are beautiful.
Thanks for sharing with us.

BEAUTIUMUS! I have been missing lots in the last few days being away from RTH. I'm going to go check out your website. I wouldn't mind having a few of these in my collection. BTW...I have noticed your stuff on ebay. Really Nice! steve
