Howdy, Geo-enthusiasts! Out in the wild Panoche Hills of Central California there hides an elusive, exotic critter ... The Panoche Hills California Poppy jasper! Less than 20 pounds of this incredible cuttable have been found in over 2 years of search, and we found the largest piece just last week! That blue is actually shining, metallic hematite! With its "California poppy" colors, green spider webbing and metallic hematite, it's both flashy and colorful. We think that it takes poppy jasper to a whole new level. Sadly, we only had 4 slabs for sale, and all were immediately snapped up by a well heeled field trip friend, but chances are very good for more finds in the immediate future. We'll be entering this material in the next cab contest, and if you'd be interested in a slab of this when we find more, just drop us a PM or email. Best regards, Kris & Al Hand-2-Mouth Mining

Only 20 pounds have been found in two years of searching, but chances are good for more finds in the immediate future? You must have the inside track...
Look forward to seeing the cab.

Nice material, but it sounds pretty rare to find any of it. Good luck in finding more, definately look forward to seeing the cab from this material. Robert

Wow that's a nice variety! Reminds me a lot of the poppies in hematite from the " Stinky Horse Hole " pit and the Sierra Primrose Jasper sites above Hornitos, CA......Mel

Ah yes, know the area well. About 2 years ago my company truck broke down on I-5 at Arroyo Hondo wash in the Panoche Hills. Talk about remote! There isn't anything out there. Just rolling hills & cattle country.

Pretty amazing what can be found out there. Those are great pieces. To think that I've driven by or through that area many times in the last 25 years and not given it another thought! Very cool stuff. Paul

in the words of Dr. Who; "Exactly!" :cheesy:
Actually, since it's all alluvial in that area, it's a matter of tracking down concentrations of the material.
Theoretically, at least.
In actuality, as with Montana Moss agate, it's a matter of going through tons of material and getting lucky. Be tenacious, work hard, move rock and luck will find you.

We do, too. We'd rather have a ton to sell to everyone reasonably than 20 pounds at the higher price. Just makes sense, and more money.
