Howdy folks, Came home the other day to a cool box from Dave at dbrealityrocks. he sent me some cool geodes for the kids, some nice agate rough, some really woody looking wood which my wife claimed for her hoard, and these totally awesome slabs which will go into my type collection. Here are a couple of pics of my favorites. Much brighter in person. The dang Texas sun today is so intense my camera washed out most the color in the pics. Thanks a whole bunch Dave!....Mel Polish Flint: Gold leaf plume agate: Another. This one has very metallic inclusions of psilomelane or maybe hematite:

Nice slabs Mel. I like Polish flint. Sure is hard stuff and it polishes great. While at Quartzsite this year, some guy had a big display of whole chunks of Polish flint cut in half. This one here is about 16" tall and was 6" thick, selling for $190. Tried talking him into selling me just the first slab off of it!

Wow Larry those flint cabs are nice! I've got to cut more of our Texas flint too. We have some that is very similar to the Polish material....Mel

Yeah Mel, you'll notice how hard that flint is when you're cutting the preforms. Your finger tips will get sore pushing. It looks like it would be soft but I'd swear it's a hardness of a 8! Fun stuff.

Glad you like them Mel. I was thinking that was psilolamine because there is a layer of psilolamine that was found right under the gold leaf. They were actually looking for gold and thought that they would find some deeper but never heard whether or not they did.
