Doesn't look like a stalactite to me.

Looks like no stalactite I have ever seen. I would have to guess quartz in tourmaline.

Looks like quartz in turgite, just not like what I've seen from Graves. (of course that place is huge...) Wrong crystal structure for tourmaline. Sue

That would be stalactitic goethite hematitie! It is extremely rare...goethite and hematite is very common but this form(stalactite) only occurs in a couple places on earth(maybe even just 2). It looks spot on to Graves Mountain except for the nicely formed quartz crystals. I have seen a good amount of this material which was found by a buddy of mine in a killer pocket a few years back. I have just never seen any with those nicely formed quartz crystals from graves, but like Meta said..graves is huge. This material is really rare and worth more than you think. I have seen small pieces fetch fairly big bucks

OH... wow! Jason thanks.. This material is OLD, like in storage for 40+ years old. It had to have been collected over 40 years ago. Pieces were wrapped in newspapers dated early 70's.
How would I determine what it is worth? I don't collect specimens and would like to sell it.

Been to Graves Mtn alot and the material looks like Graves. Like Jason said never seen such great quartz crystals. Graves is a 'strange wonderful' place and as far as minerals, anything is possible !!
