Yes, plastic is too light for vibes. Ceramic non-abrasive media or pea gravel, or saw trimmings and small rocks would be much better.

Just shoot me now!!!!! I am rinsing out this batch and going to run a burnish. I went to go measure out the 120 for the next go around and discovered I am now out. I will need to be patient as I wait for Wednesday to order from Shawn. After the burnish, I may take pictures of this batch for your input. This will probably be good for me, as we all know I have the patience of a 2-year old So I will start to plan out my next batch as I did some major trimming, some cabbing, and creating rough from slabs today. I will take pictures in the next couple of days. As always!!

I am also thinking that since this batch is focused more on the cab side and not the additional rough side, I can probably run a erally good brunish and then start the 500.
Now from my understanding I can use 500, then the pre, then the final polish.
I have heard that using 500 before pre polish is even better for the final outcome.
Input?

I never skip 500. Sometimes I skip 1000 (which is likely your prepolish), but only on Mohs 7 or harder rocks. I think you will be quite happy with a 500 stage. And and added bonus--it will give you something to do while you wait for your 120.

There are two diff 500's I have .....
One is pre polish 500 silicon carbide, then there is pre polish 500 alum oxide, then my 1000.
I have been told that working in this 500 silicon between 120/220 & the pre alum oxide, you can actually get a better result. Shawn sells both of these and the last time I got my supplies, I saw it and decided to try it out.
Are we talking about the same 500? And have you heard anything about this?
I am also finding out that with all the batches running and now that I did all the trimming and rough break up today, I have oodles ready for new batches.
I also want to think about putting together another river rock batch and maybe do it in the vibe this time. I have some goodies I still have left from TNT (Krystee) and RockHobbit that I am itching to do. I love my river rocks!
My thought is I may try to work on some wrapping. Wooooooof! It has been so long. We shall see.
As Always!!!

I have decided against the 500 silicon carbide for the time being and am going with my favorite 500 ao, the it will be 1000 ao, then final.
Oh boy! Live and Learn!

I haven't used 500 sc before but 500 ao is the MOST important part of my polishing process. In the vibe, I let it run 4 days as vibes break down grit in 1/2 every 24 hours. At the end of 4 days, essentially, you have rocks that have been through a 4000 grit wheel. With ob, it mirror shines after 4 days with borax added! Oh yeah, Borax is my other must use staple!!!

I am using the 500 ao and will let it go the four days. This is going to make me crazy having to wait, but Krystee ... if I can get half the shine you do, I will be oh so very happy.
This batch has been running since last night with almost 6 tablesoons of the 500 ao for that creamy milky over all the stones.
So ... I will recharge at the (close to) 24 hour mark (for pre), I can add more pre polish without rinsing ... correct?

Don't recharge the 500, let the grit break down into finer grits every 24 hours. If you recharge then you would be starting over from the beginning of the 500 stage. I run my 500 as many days as necessary until I see my reflection in the stone!

Okay .... I'll find the patience. Oye Uh .... One question .... Where do I find this elusive creature called patience? Off to rinse off and sort out all the trim trappings from yesterday. I may have to cave in and really try some wrapping. As Always!
