I'm heading for Llano, TX tomorrow (by way of the Wildseed Farm near Fredricksburg) and hope to find some Llanite. I've gotten some decent descriptions of where to find it but it sounds like it has been really well picked over or you need a jackhammer.
Has anyone been in the area looking for Llanite recently and can offer any recommendations on where to go?

16 north of town about 7.2 miles i would guess lol is a road cut that passes through a deposit can't miss it unless you are going to fast its not huge but its very noticable. Bring a big hammer and wedges the good stuff you have to work for. Most of what you find with out breaking it out is to soft.I dug some out of the dirt that were mostly to soft, so do yourself a favor and dig it out of the deposit its hard but worth it. George

Well, it was a great trip mostly because of the weather and the FANTASTIC wildflowers that are everywhere in the Hill Country right now. The outcropping has withstood multiple attempts to break off some chunks and some have been successful, but my guess is that most have not been. We went prepared and did bring back some chunks. After we clean them I'll know better how much success we had.
