I thought this might interest some people. See if you can guess what it is. I found it on a beach. Attachments:

Another photo, and can someone show me how to add more than one photo in a posting? and how to resize the photo correctly to get maximum quality and size?, I have Picasa and Microsoft digital image suite 2006 and am obviously not very computer literate Attachments:

To upload multiple photos you need to get a free account on a photo sharing site such as Photobucket or Flicker. Then do any needed adjustments such as brightness, color accuracy, resizing etc. in Picasso or Microsoft digital image suite. Then upload the photos to your account, there will be image codes there for you to copy and paste in your posts here. 600 to 700 wide is about as large as you want to go.

Polished wood with two faces on it? Glad you asked the question re uploading photos. Thanks to grayfingers, too, for answering it. My photo looked like yours.

Possibly part of a fossil whale ear bone. I posted this one a while back. Portion of ear bone is left of the shark tooth.

No, the mystery object is not part of a whale or a shark. Prehistoric, yes.
But, I love your photo. I have some better photos but still have no idea how to process them onto a posting. I have cropped the photos, and reduced size so they are only 600m wide. Then I transferred them to photobucket.
Now, exactly how does one embed a photo onto a posting? Please excuse my ignorance but I do not do facebook, twitter or other social media like that which may have taught me that. Also, none of my grandchildren are around to ask. Timbo

Byng, to embed the photo into your posting, go to Photobucket, click on the photo you want embedded, and a menu of about four choices will pop up. Select the last one. It starts with "img". Copy and paste that listing into your posting. It will be just letters, not the photo at this time. Go to the next photo you want and repeat. They will all show up in the same posting as the actual photos.. Good luck! I got these instructions on this thread from grayfingers above. It works.

That's better. The size is 2 inches by 3 inches and 1/2 inch thick at its thickest. The advice was all perfect, as usual. Timbo

Timbo, I'm curious about the vertebra in some of your pics. Have you been able to ID the critter it came from ? Don

Looking at the new pics, second pic down, I'm going to take a wild guess at some sort of herbivore tooth. The tooth of a live animal would be hollow, with living root and nerve material inside. This could explain the white chalcedony replacement material in the pic, and what appears to be the outer shell of a tooth around it. An herbivores tooth would be worn and rounded as this appears to be. Whereas a carnivores tooth would be more pointed.

Perhaps you could help me with one. I've posted this before on here and other forums, and still haven't come up with a positive ID. The first chance I get, I plan to take it to the S.D. School of Mines, to see if they can ID it. Don

Getting close Don, except that the white material is not a chalcedony replacement, its just fossilised. That's an lovely fang you have, but I do not know what from. Timbo
