I'm so sad no one knows.. my husband thinks its Scoria kinda looks like it from the outside coating but the inside doesn't

Kind of has the pattern of dino bone but not sure!

Can't ID it, but it will probably look like this cut. A friend gave me a couple big chunks. It takes a good polish, but may have a lot of small pits.

Thanks Jakesrock I am going to try and get some cutting in when the wind isn't blowing so bad hopefully friday maybe I can get a better pic when it's cut. The red in it is real dark and then there is a gray/blue but like I said the outside does look simular to scoria but the inside doen't. I think it's a jasper of some kind I have never seen any like that here before though.

Tammy, if I had to guess, my thoughts are that it started out as mud flowing from a volcanic vent. At some point it was covered with lava which cooked and compressed it. The tiny internal cracks and pits were probably caused by shrinkage as moisture was boiled out. I'll see if I can find a pic of a slab that I did a quick polish on.
Mine was ID'd as scoria by the finder. But after posting pics on here in the specimens section, a lot of unanswered questions were left. Don

Wow,I missed this one-Yes I think its scoria too..............Alot of red and orange scoria around there and I have seen some like this too........(looks like some mineral got into the cracks before it hardened)...Nice little rock..
