Rock people are great people....
One again, makes you believe in "Pay It Forward". Nice work Larry and Steve!
(either that, or they are like drug pushers and they are trying to suck you into the addictive vortex that is all things ROCKS!) Sue

Awesome,
I will let ya all know when it arrives. I will make sure to take some photos of it's rebirth.
Thanks Larry. Helen is soon to be an slicin' addict. Helen, you do realize that once you have this though, you are going to be yearnin' fer a 10 inch and then a 20 inch...Larry and steve accept no responsibility for the disfunction this may cause in other parts of Helen's life...

I just found this thread. What a cool story! I've never been on a forum with what seems like 100% nice, helpful people. I've spent time on juggling forums and gardening forums in the past and while both groups had friendly, generous people, they also had some jerks. Who knew rock lovers were so nice?

I've spent time on juggling forums and gardening forums in the past and while both groups had friendly, generous people, they also had some jerks. Who knew rock lovers were so nice? Thats because we are all rock heads and as such we do all of our thinking with our hearts. I am sure you have heard of the expression "a warm and fuzzy feeling" That is the feeling we get when we take an old crusty hard dirty rock and cut it open to reveal the hidden beauty. Now Helen is going to have a permanent warm and fuzzy feeling because she is going to become a rock cutting machine with that nifty new saw. Now if we can only get her to fall out of love with Obama she will be perfect LOL. I guess for now her mantra will now be "I love Obama but OH THAT SAW" What a great display of human kindness and generosity. Enjoy it with the best of happiness . Stu

Unclestu, this isn't the political forum. I have never said I LOVE Obama, he is the lesser of 2 evils. Still, I will defend the President of the US from unwarranted personal attacks that have nothing to do with policies because it's just wrong. On the other hand, I said I LOATHE Romney, and would vote for a talking dog before I'd vote for him. Defending spinach doesn't mean I love spinach, and hating peas doesn't mean I love spinach either.
That said, I am VERY grateful for the saw offer, but as I told Steve, I hope he knows that once he ships me the saw, this is going to end up being a long term friendship, because I'm a mechanical idiot.
So if he changes his mind and wants to keep the saw, I totally understand, and STILL appreciate the offer, because both Larry and Steve have been staggeringly generous just making the offer!
The people on this forum are really wonderful people, and this is a big example of that!!!

Well, Helen, No news is well...just that. But tonight I fnally had some time to clean it up a bit more. I had hoped to powder coat it but i just can't get it rust free enough to attempt that so I will prime and paint it. Do you have a color preference Helen?
Larry, Do you recall if the bearings are still good? They seem ok but can't really tell very well with it all torn apart.
Will post an update when there is somethin' to say/show.

Steve... whatever color you happen to have is great:).
You didn't see my pm... I want to send you (and Larry) something for that saw. I DO need a saw, but I am a bit embarassed to just accept a free saw I did nothing to deserve. I'm a glass artist. I also have some unusual rocks/tile, and heck, I can pay something for the saw if you don't want anything else.
I really appreciate the time and effort and most of all your big hearts!

I just love how things work here! I have personally met several members over the years and feel friendly with all the rest I have yet to meet. This board is just populated with TOP-NOTCH folks. Gives me a sense of what America should be and most likely used to be.

Steve, The bearings seemed to me like they were still good but I didn't hook it up to a motor and run it. And Helen, don't be embarrassed, I'm happy for you to have the saw and put it to good use!
