When I clean stones in between each stage of grit in my Loto vibe I am not sure how much water to add to the barrel. I have filled the barrel to just cover the stones and added Borax & soap flakes. Unlike the way the vibe is charged when grit is added ie just wetting the stones. I was not sure if the small amount of water with no sludge would scratch the stones again. Some guidance needed please.

With my Lot-O, I use a pump or two of liquid dishwashing detergent and a few sprays of water from a squirt bottle. I run it for around 15 minutes and then wash up, if you run it too long it will suds up on you. I use Borax to burnish but the liquid dish detergent makes for a real quick cleanup (also makes the stones a little slippery though).

With grit you have to watch water content because the grit falls to the bottom and wears through the bowl. Washing you can cover the rocks and even more wouldn't hurt. I'm assuming you rinse the rocks and bowl first.

I've had the best luck with burnishing adding a little over a cup of water. But my experiences are a bit "off" due to dealing with a cantankerous water softener.
