Here's some rocks that I think are mostly chert that my son and I found in Lake Huron and other nearby places. The green rocks must be something else because they didn't polish up as nicely. Here are my favorites: I don't think I'll pick up any more chert unless it has interesting stripes like the brown one in picture above.

THAT'S what it is! CHERT! I've got a brown one just about like that one of yours! I've been chicken to throw it into the vibe but I think I'll give it a try. Found mine up by Petoskey.

This stuff is easy to find, it's just doesn't look that good polished. It's shiny, but sort of boring. It looks different from all the other rocks around here. It's waxy looking, rather than dull like the other rocks. I was in the U.P. this week and couldn't help picking up a couple pieces with stripes.

That green looks a little like some of the lighter jade I see from Wyoming.
I like the chert, nice batch!
