Don't know, but could those white specks be fossils?

Before I cut the rough, it had star burst like patterns on the stone.....comprisied of the whiter *spots*....there are some *speckles * of blue-ish coloring in there amongst the tan....

Can't remember the name, but I cut and cabbed some many years ago. Check this out. It may be the same material. gemstone.smfforfree4.com/index.php?topic=2650.0Names of materials seem to change over the years. Last time I saw this stuff was in the early 90's.

Now that's interesting. I just checked the link I posted, and while scrolling down the page found several comments by members of this forum.

The star burst patterns were only on the out side of the rock, no matter how I cut it, I couldnt get those patterns anywhere inside the stone....it's not hard by any means, maybe a 5, and takes a killer shine.... That star burst jasper is gorgeous stuff....I dont have any color like that in this stuff tho....or could it still be the same thing?

It is not bone, but some sort of fossil stone. Very nice I might add!
